Pink Detox Smoothie [Recipe]

Healthy, Yummy and Fresh! Here’s a recipe for a smoothie that I love!

The ingredients in this detox smoothie include beets, avocado, strawberries, celery, lemon, coconut oil, and apple. Here are the nutritional benefits for each of these (you’ll see that these ingredients are great for a detox):

Beet – cleanses the liver, purifies the blood, anti-inflammatory, source of iron

Avocado – helps lower blood pressure, lubricates joints, anti-inflammatory, loads of healthy fats, high in fibre

Strawberries – high in antioxidants, rich source of vitamin C, benefits digestion

Celery – acts as mild diuretic, promotes feeling of fullness, rich in B vitamins and fiber

Lemon – antibacterial properties, aids digestion, high in Vitamin C, detoxifies and alkalizes, mild diuretic

Virgin Coconut oil – fights viruses, fungi, and bacteria, metabolism booster, increases good HDL cholesterol

Apple (optional) – helps balance blood sugar levels, helps lower cholesterol, aids digestion

Pink Detox Smoothie

Ingredients
  1. 1 cup water or coconut water
  2. 1/2 medium avocado, pitted
  3. 2 celery stalks, roughly chopped
  4. 1 cup strawberries (frozen preferred)
  5. 1 small/medium beet, steamed and peeled
  6. 1 lemon, juiced (about 3 tablespoons or so)
  7. 1 tablespoon coconut oil, liquefied
  8. 4 large ice cubes
  9. ½ to 1 apple (optional – if you want a sweeter smoothie, add apple; if you want a more tart smoothie, leave out apple), cored and roughly chopped
Instructions
  1. 1. Add all ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend on high until smooth. Add more apple if you want sweeter.
